Our Life
My name is Tess, and I am a proud wife and mother! My husband Kyle and I have been together since 2011, and married since 2016! We have 4 beautiful daughters together: Katie, Maci, Daisy & Bria. Kyle is a self-made business owner (custom trucking & hay brokering), while I stay back home to manage finances, children, and dogs! Every dog we own sleeps in a bed, with a human. We raise our dogs as FAMILY and no less. That is what separates us from the rest, and we wouldn't have it any other way!
Our Breeding Process
I have so much pride in my program! Before even thinking about breeding, I spoke with numerous seasoned breeders, studied all of the health science around the dachshund breed, and was even lucky enough to assist in a couple whelpings first hand. I finally found a few puppies that I thought would be genetically perfect for breeding, and made sure their temperaments were as good as their DNA! Even with all of those years of work, there was (and still is) a lot of trial & error.
After raising my puppies for about 5 months, I genetically test them, to be sure they do not carry any unwanted traits or health issues. There have been times when a test comes back unsatisfactory. When that happens, I spay or neuter the dog and find them a happy, loving family to reside with. If any puppy shows an unappealing temperament, they also will be spayed or neutered and rehomed. I am VERY picky about where these dogs go! I do not just send them down the road. This is a HUGE process.
I DO NOT force mamas to whelp in a specific place. They whelp where they are most comfortable (so long as it is a safe place for both mom and babies). I am present for every puppy, at any hour, from the minute the come to the minute they leave.
What To Expect
Every dog here at HayDay Dachshunds is AKC registered and genetically tested. All have amazing temperaments, and you are more than welcome to come and see that for yourself!
All puppies will have their shots up to 8 weeks, be dewormed, and be microchipped. There is NO fee to register your microchip! Babies that leave my home will always come with a genetic health guarantee.
Every puppy will go home with a goodie bag to get you started. This bag includes some kibble that I use, a couple of small cans of food, a toy of the puppy's choice, a custom made collar, a blanket that smells like mom and siblings, a puppy pad, and a few extras in your very own HayDay Dachshunds tote!
Puppies will be accustomed to children of all ages, adults of different genders and ethnicities, adults in uniform, other small dogs, large dogs, cats, and birds. I also will have them relatively used to car rides, so they shouldn't have that oh-so-common puppy motion sickness!
There is a $500 non refundable deposit that will be subtracted from the balance, due when you choose your new baby. I try my best to work with families that are a good fit as much as possible, which is why I try to find our babies homes as soon as possible. Most families prefer making payments over the growing period, which is absolutely an option!
I am willing to hold puppies for as long as 10 weeks, free of any extra charge. I offer custom pictures, video calls, and you're always welcome to visit after 4 weeks (there is a sanitation process if you choose to visit my home).
All purchasers will need to sign my contract. I am always willing to adjust contracts so long as it's what's best for the puppies.
